Greetings to everyone, welcome to the conference room. Here, just like in every business, there should be a room or space where there’s a big table where you and your team can sit and discuss the affairs and discussions that happen in a business every day. I am going to use this space ass our conference room and here we will discuss the weekly topics.
Today, I want to talk to you about the people that should surround you on your way to stardom, or in this case on your way to become a successful entrepreneur. Not everyone is going to be invited to be a co-star in the story you’re about to live. Many people will get to a certain stage and others will begin where the other ones left off. Anyways, start thinking, when you were in High School you thought that your friends were going to be with you for the rest of your life, it was not like that. Then, in college you thought to yourself, “these are the ones”… it wasn’t like that either, that’s because everyone that comes into your life eventually leaves, in your entrepreneurial life the same thing is bound to happen.
There’s always an exception to every rule, there are certain people that are blessed enough to have the same friends all of their lives, I myself have a few people that even though life has taken us in different directions, we still keep in contact.
Types of people that you should and should not have by your side:
1- Positive people- These are the type of people that are always looking to move forward, in many business there will be hard days and you will need people that will motivate you and help you see that there are people living ahead of you and the world hasn’t come to an end. The worse thing that can happen to you is that when the hard days come the person that’s by your side hands you a rope….
2- Say “No” to those who criticize- People who criticize everything bring a bad “vibe”, they put a heavy environment with their constant criticism and you do not have time for to lose with others criticisms, since all of your energy and time should be put on developing your business. Never forget that those who criticize others in front of you, criticize you behind your back.
3- Entrepreneurs- These are the people that you tell “I want to start a new project”, and when you look at them, they already have their boots and gloves on and they ask you “When do we starts?” On the contrary to these type of people are those who settle that do not want to evolve and are happy with where life has taken them, they don’t have the drive to fight for anyone or anything.
I have also seen two situations were successful entrepreneurs get separated from old friends. One of these situations is envy, I have talked to many people about this situation and I concluded that envy is something very natural that occurs when other people achieve success. Someone could have a friend of a lifetime but when one of them begins to have success the other one can’t overcome that and they begin to distance themselves.
The other one, I believe this is sad but inevitable, is caused by the power that the new entrepreneur obtains. The new entrepreneur begins to experiment with new toys: boats, cars, trips, etc. The old friends can’t participate in these new changes and the entrepreneur begins to meet new people in the same environment with the same interests, therefore the entrepreneur begins to develop new friendships and even though it may not be on purpose, the old friends begin to feel left behind.
We'll meet again soon!
